Weekend Bookbinding Workshop

This two-day immersive workshop is designed to guide you through both rebinding an existing book and creating a book entirely from scratch.

Saturday: Rebinding

On Saturday, participants will rebind a book they bring from home. You will learn how to create a durable fabric hard cover using grey board, properly case in your text block, and finish your book with professional-quality details. All materials used are acid-free, ensuring your book is preserved to last a lifetime.

Sunday: Bookbinding from Scratch

On Sunday, the focus shifts to traditional bookbinding techniques. You will learn how to:

• Create and fold signatures

• Sew signatures together

• Properly position and attach your text block into a hard cover case

By the end of the day, you’ll have a fully handmade journal, bound from start to finish by you.

What You’ll Take Home

By the end of the weekend, you will leave with:

• A custom, fabric-bound special edition of your favourite book

• A brand new handmade journal

• A starter bookbinding kit including essential tools such as a ruler, spacer, bone folder, and corner cutter, Awl  etc. 

You’ll also have the opportunity to personalize your projects by choosing from a selection of high-quality bookbinding linen fabrics and decorative end pages.

What to Bring

Participants are asked to bring:

• One favourite book you would like to rebind

• A packed lunch for each day

All other materials and tools are provided.

This workshop is ideal for beginners and creatives looking to learn a timeless craft while creating meaningful, lasting pieces.
